The Government have reviewed and amended the 'Working Together To Safeguard Children (WTSC) 2015' and have now released the new 2018 version!

WTSC Consultation description

The government have sought views on:

  • Significant revisions to Working Together to Safeguard Children, the statutory guidance on what’s expected of organisations to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • 2 sets of statutory instruments (regulations) needed to support the new arrangements
  • New child death review guidance

These revisions reflect the legislative changes introduced through the Children and Social Work Act 2017. Following this consultation, the government has updated and replaced the previous Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015 statutory guidance.

Young People's/ Children's Working Together 2018 Guidance 

A version of the guidance for young people and a separate version suitable for Younger Children are also available for practitioners to share.

Additional Key Changes

  • The Department for Education has updated Keeping Children Safe in Education  - Live: 3rd September 2018, This revised statutory guidance should be read alongside 'Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018'.
  • Local Authorities in England must notify the national Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel within 5 working days of becoming aware of a serious incident. - Operational from 29th June 2018
